My little squash

What an appropriate vegetable ~ probably feels a little SQUASHed right now!

Nothing really new to report. I measured my belly the other day and it was 37 inches. I didn't measure it tho with Brennan so I can't really compare.
I removed all the non-nursery items from the nursery the other day - It was turning into a dumping ground. I was planning on setting up the nursery in November, but since our little episode Monday night Brian wants ~at least~ the bags packed just incase something happens. Probably a good idea, so I might do that today.
I'm still feeling REALLY good! Can't believe how good I feel actually. I was reading in my journal from when I was pregnant with Brennan and at this time I was sleeping with 2-3 extra pillows. Now I'm just starting to sleep with one extra pillow between my knees - I usually end up on my back anyways so little good it does. I guess maybe my bones and ligaments were all stretched and in pregnancy mode when I got pregnant so maybe that's why I'm not sore. I dunno - but I'm not complaining!
Brian and I were chatting last night how pregnany is 'old hat' to us but we really don't have a clue how to take care of a baby! We're not scared about it, I think we both are pretty comfortable with babies and have a pretty good idea of what to do but we've never taken care of our own. Kinda funny :)
Well, I think I'm going to go have fun in the nursery!

Update - Feeling Good!

After a good long sleep last night I'm feeling really good! Everything is back to normal. I don't think I've had a contraction since about 5pm yesterday. My Dr wanted me on bedrest until the contractions stopped so I've been up and around today - nothing too strenuos tho.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers!

Last night....

I see that lots of you commented on facebook.... After I updated my profile I was going to explain a bit on here but my internet stopped working so I left you all hanging. Anyways, here's our story from last night:

So at about midnight I woke up with some really strong contractions. I had been pretty busy yesterday - cleaning our bedroom, washing walls, etc, so I thought I had just maybe over done it. After about 1/2 hour they set into a rythm - about a 20 second long contraction 2 minutes apart. I got up and did a bit of reading on braxton hicks, preterm labour, etc and I noticed I had a few symptoms of preterm labour (back was sore, consistent contractions, cramps). I had some water then layed down again to count them again. Yup - still the same. By this time they didn't hurt as much but something that definately kept me awake. So after thinking for another hour or so (lots of thoughts go through your mind - especially when you don't have a good history of childbirth) I called the hospital to see what they said. I told them what was going on and they said I should come in right away. I went and woke up Brian and we headed to the hospital at about 3AM. Our last trip like this we were very quiet, and gripped with fear - this time, we still (obviously) had some fear but the baby was kicking lots and having a baby at 28 weeks didn't seem like such a big deal (compared to last time). When we got to the hospital they hooked me up to the monitors and watched my contractions and how the baby was doing. My contractions were still about 2 minutes apart but even less painful - kinda like a dull ache. They did some checks and our Dr came to see us. He did a bit more poking and proding and told us my cervix wasn't dilated (which we were all so thankful about!) They monitored me for about and hour then said to go home, TAKE IT EASY and be on bedrest for a while - he said when I'm having contractions like that the baby's weight on the cervix can dilate it. He also said that I had a urinary infection so that and over doing it yesterday made for a not so good combination.
We got home at about 5. I was supposed to work today so I called to tell them I wasn't coming in, then we crashed in bed until about 9. I've been having contractions off and on today but nothing consistent. My tummy is pretty tender from the workout it had last night so I don't mind just hanging out in bed. I'm getting lots of homework done anyways!
So, that's the scoop. Baby is HEALTHY & we're not in labour! Thank the Lord!

Hello 3rd Trimester!

Crazy to think that I am in my last trimester! 12 weeks left!
The last 2 nights my belly has felt very tight & stretched. Hopefully my skin catches up to the growing baby soon :)
My weight gain is pretty good. Generally 1/2-1 pound a week. I've gained a total of 16 lbs so far so not too bad. I did gain only 13.5 with Brennan but I'm only about 3 lbs heavier then I was last time at 28 weeks so I'm not complaining!
My back was super sore yesterday but since I was pulling weeds, digging potatoes and other gardening adventures, I can only blame myself. I felt very old and crippled waddling around last night. Nothing that a good nights sleep and a heating pad couldn't fix :)

The 'works'

Today I had a bunch of tests, needles and Dr. visits. These things are definately easier when you work at a hospital instead of making extra trips and appointments! So, first thing this morning I filled out a form to see the Dr. Last week I was giving care to a gentleman, we later found out, that had whooping cough. I guess it is more dangerous for infants or pregnant women (in their 3rd trimester). It doesn't harm the baby but the coughing can put a pregnant women into premature labour - which we REALLY don't want. We chatted about me going on antibiotics but came to the conclusion that I won't go on them unless I actually start having symptoms. I don't like taking extra drugs if I don't have to ESPECIALLY when I'm pregnant! So far I don't have symptoms of whooping cough and hope I never do.
Then I had to do my gestational diabetes glucose test where they make you drink something similar to orange pop then they take your blood to see how the body deals with the sugar. So, I drank the 'stuff' went back to work for an hour then they drew some blood.
After that I had to get my Rhogam shot because my blood is RH negative (which can be fatal to the baby if the antibodies shot isn't given). Yet another needle poke...
Now, if I hadn't been at work these procedures probably would have taken a few hours so I'm thankful for the added perk of working at a hospital!

I'm still feeling great and the baby is definately making itself known! 85 days to go!

100 days!

Today I start counting down from 100! I'm not sure why but 100 seems like such a milestone to me. I think this pregnancy has been a perfect pace for me. Somedays I wish I had a month or two more (definately won't be wishing that when I'm a week over due), and other days my excitement takes over and I just want to hold this little one! I love being pregnant. I've been consiously making myself slow down at times just to feel the baby kick & move and take it all in. Pregnancy is such an amazing time. Baby is big enough now that I can feel it's back or head when I poke around on my belly. Yesterday I felt him/her encroaching on my ribs. I remember that was the last feeling I had of Brennan in my belly - even though he was already gone I felt his little body 'float' up into my ribs...
Loving these moments.
